This week, Alice Marie shares her thoughts on Scarlet Traces (Dark Horse). The book is a must for anyone who likes alternate histories, sci-fi, steampunk, and intrigue. Check out her capsule summary on our site!
The War of the Worlds is one of my all-time favorite novels. I think it’s a testament to its greatness that it’s spawned so many film and TV versions as well as unofficial sequels. The Scarlet Traces books are definitely among the best of the latter. Ian Edginton and D’Israeli paint a brilliant picture of the British Empire after the Martians have all died, and all that Martian technology is just lying around.
I don’t know what this is from or what’s going on. But it reminds me of the old “Step on the hose, then spray water at them while they’re pointing it at their face” gags - so I hope that’s how this comic ended.
Jason Preston sent me those selfmade Comic Book covers with my costume pictures a while ago! (they were even attached at the original Batgirl comics) :) I love them so much and wanted to share them with you! Thank you so much, Jason!
Reading comics in public. And wearing comics in public.
Anthony Bourdain’s GET JIRO! is amazing, and you should read it.
